Helen Kostelnik

December 9, 1923 — April 11, 2011

Helen Kostelnik, 87, went to be with Jesus, her, Savior, on April 11, 2011, while a resident of Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, OH. Helen was born to Mike and Anna (Zura) Kostelnik on Dec. 9, 1923 on Kelleys Island and shortly thereafter moved to Bay Township where she spent most of her life. She loved growing up on the farm with her siblings. Helen attended Port Clinton Schools and worked at U.S. Gypsum, Erie Ordinance Depot and Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde until her retirement. Helen was a faithful member of the Bible Methodist Church, Port Clinton. In the mid 1960's Helen became a licensed Bible Missionary Minister and did some missionary work in the southwest and later became a pastor in East Liverpool and Bellevue, Ohio. Helen dedicated her life to serving God and others. She was never too busy to listen and pray for those in need and to reassure them of God's unconditional love. Helen enjoyed singing hymns while playing her accordion or piano, reading, attending revivals and church camps, and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her nephew: Richard (Bobette) Yurista of Port Clinton; niece: Alice (Thomas) Turley of Port Clinton, Joanne (George) Branco of Westfield Center, Ohio, Janice (Kenneth) Carson of Vancouver, WA, Michelle (Bernie) Parrillo of Kingstown, RI and one great niece and several great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John, Mike, and Joseph Kostelnik and sister: Anne (Kostelnik) Yurista. We, the family, extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Leonardo Que, Rev. Deron Fourman and the entire staffs of Edgewood Manor Nursing Center and Stein Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Helen.
