Helen Grover

Helen Grover, 81, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on August 19, 1930 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Peto) Benko. On February 23, 1952 she married Andy Grover and he survives. Helen worked on the production lines as a laborer for Philco, Sandusky, Ohio; U.S. Gypsum Company, Gypsum, Ohio; and finally at Standard Products, Port Clinton, Ohio until her retirement in 1992. She then worked as a cashier at Port Clinton High School, and also helped out as a Poll Worker during the Ottawa County Elections. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton; brownie and girl scout leader; member of the Philco 10+ club; member of the Thursday night Bowling League; Elks Ladies Auxiliary; and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crafts, but her main enjoyment was her family- especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband: Andy; daughter: Kim (Bob) Fravel, Port Clinton; grandchildren: Ashlee and Robert Fravel; sister: Judy (Dan) Mulligan, Port Clinton; brothers: Steve (Nancy) Benko, Port Clinton and Andy (Marlene) Benko, Port Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Lydia Engbring and brothers: Nick and John Benko. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Additional visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams Street, Port Clinton on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 10am until Funeral Services at 11am with Pastor James Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio; the Port Clinton Redskin Varsity Basketball or Baseball Auxiliary Funds.
