Hazel Ruth Rister

Hazel “Ruth” Rister, 86, of Oak Harbor passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton, OH. She was born July 15, 1936 in Samaria, KY the daughter of Walter and Irene (Sizemore) Bush. She married Jesse Rister on March 27, 1954 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2018. Hazel worked at Eaton Corporation for many years. She was a lifelong member of Faith Family Worship Center in Port Clinton, Ohio where she was instrumental in helping build the church. She was the Adult Sunday School Teacher as well as the church secretary for many years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, church camp and she loved spending time with her family and traveling with her church friends.

Surviving are her son: Leslie (Brenda) Rister of Oak Harbor; grandchildren: Larry Rister, Jr., Walter (Dessa Sutherland) Rister, Randy (Beth) Rister; great-grandchildren: Alexis Rister, Alayna Rister, Mackenzie Wagner and brother Don (Angie) Bush of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jesse; son: Larry Rister; sisters: Faye Oliver, Louise Meenach; brothers: Jack Bush, Arnold Bush and special friend Ruby Travillian.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, April 24, 2023 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH with visitation on Monday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Interment will be in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Rev. Jimmy Comstock and Rev. L. D. Roessler will be officiating. A bereavement meal will follow the services at Bay Township Hall. Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Family Worship Center, Youth Fund, 1061 S. Limestahl Rd. Port Clinton, OH 43452.
