Hazel J. Tabbert, 92, of Graytown, OH, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her home. She was born in Millbury, OH on December 7, 1925, a daughter of Grover & (Newell) Schwamberger. Hazel was employed by the Ottawa County Board of Elections for 13 years, and during World War II, worked at a Toledo glass plant, making canopies for dive bombers. An active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, OH, she taught Sunday School there for several years. Hazel was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was also a member of the Garden Club. A lover of nature, she enjoyed tending her flowers and keeping the family farm looking its best. On August 12, 1944, she married Donald Tabbert, and he survives. Also surviving are their children, Gary (Diana) Tabbert, Huntington Beach, CA, Patricia (Joseph) Curtis, Monclova, OH, Michael Tabbert, Rocky Ridge, OH, Dr. William (Susan) Tabbert, Marion, OH, James (Mary) Tabbert, Oak Harbor, OH, and Donald (Michelle) Tabbert, Graytown; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Fay Bolander, Graytown; and brother, Matthew Schwamberger, Walbridge, OH. Hazel was preceded in death by 7 brothers, 1 sister, and a great-granddaughter. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday, and 2-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 17955 W. Third St., Elliston, OH, with Rev. Donald B. Corbin, officiating. Interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
