Hazel E. (Snider) Jeremy, 90, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton. She was born on January 19, 1918, in Erie Township, a daughter of the late H. Clifford & Dorthea (Lewis) Snider. Hazel was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and The Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. On August 30, 1941, she married Clarence Jeremy and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1990. She was employed as a Home Service Representative for Ohio Public Service; and as a payroll clerk at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton, then in 1968 she worked as the office manager for D.B. Jeremy & Son until she and her husband retired together in 1988. Hazel organized the first canteen group for World War II families for the American Red Cross in Port Clinton, where she served at the first Port Clinton blood mobile. This blood mobile continued for more than 20 years. She was a former member of a Home and Garden Club in Port Clinton and also a member of the child guidance council. Survivors include her sons, Clair Jeremy and Edward Jeremy, both of Port Clinton; daughter, Francine Chapman, Vickery, OH; grandson, Benjamin C. Chapman, deployed with the 148th Infantry Battalion-Delta Company-Iraq; great grandson, Raylee Chapman; eight step-grandchildren and twelve step-great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Gerogosian of Port Clinton and Mary Werner of Bowling Green, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Wilbur "Bill" Snider and sister, Mildred Cotner. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 PM Friday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St, Port Clinton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 AM with additional visitation from 10-11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 S. Church Rd, Danbury Twp. with Reverend Christina L. Young officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
