Harriet M. Verbryke

Harriet M. Verbryke, 93 of Elmore, OH was taken to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her home under Hospice care. She was born May 11, 1927 in Elmore, OH to the late Harry and Caroline (Kuhlman) Krueger. She graduated Valedictorian of her 1945 class from Harris- Elmore High School. On December 14, 1946 she married Robert M. Verbryke Sr. at St. John’s Evangelical & Reformed Church, Elmore and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2006. Harriet worked as a bookkeeper for the Union Supply Company in Toledo, OH, but spent most of her years as a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore where she was active in the Honor Workers, Needle Workers, and played the piano for the Children’s Sunday School for many years. She also was a member of the “Pride & Joy” Mothers Club, Elmore; served as a Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts; assisted with the American Heart Association, and served as a presiding Judge on the Local Board of Elections. Harriet and her husband shared many interests and activities including bicycling, camping, and hiking. Especially near and dear to her heart were the many extended family camping trips throughout the entire USA. Survivors include her children: Robert (Karen) Verbryke Jr, of Curtice, OH, William Verbryke of Elmore, OH, David Verbryke of Kingston, OH, James (Tamara) Verbryke of Marblehead, OH, and Lisa (John) Fork of Woodville, OH; 9 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild. Special thanks and gratitude to Renee Thomas, Robin Bell and Victoria Cappelletty for the loving care and attention they gave our mother. Friends may call from 2-8 PM Thursday at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51, Elmore. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Private funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Elmore, with Pastor Margaret Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Those planning on making a memorial contribution are asked to please consider the church.
