Harriet Halle Bruening

Harriet “Halle” Bruening, 76, of Lakeside passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Firelands Regional

Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born October 15, 1947 in Springfield, OH the daughter of

William Eugene and Mary Frances (Bahns) Drake. She married Dr. Frank R. Bruening on August 1, 1970

and he preceded in death on April 20, 2019. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church,

Marblehead, OH. She previously worked for the Toledo Botanical Garden and Toledo Cultural Arts

Center and she was active with the Junior League of Toledo. In her retirement she stayed active in her

community volunteering for the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society.

She is survived by sons Andy (Paige) Bruening of Columbus, OH, Nathaniel Bruening of Denver, CO, Alex

Bruening of Winchester, VA. She was preceded in death by son Benjamin Bruening. Surviving family also

includes grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ian, Charlotte, Natalie; siblings: Leslie (Tom) Drake

Coe of Williamsburg, VA, John Carl Drake of Dayton, OH and Molly (Scott) Drake Beitel of Traverse City,

MI.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Joseph Szybka 11:00 am September 7, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
