Harold E Green

Harold E. Green, 78, of Catawba Island, died Monday, September 15, 2008 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born on July 9, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest M. and Pearle (Shankland) Green. He married Beatrice Gaylord on February 25, 1950 and she survives. Harold began his working career as a paving contractor for Loesch & Green construction in Cleveland, Ohio, then was the owner/operator of Green's Harbor from 1970-1978, a marina in Fremont, Ohio located on the Sandusky river, and was a farmer from 1978-1989 when he retired. Harold and Beatrice lived in Florida from 1989-2004 and moved back to Port Clinton in 2004, when he went to work as a bagger at Bassett's Market in Port Clinton. He was a 32nd degree Mason for the Theodore Breck Lodge, Brecksville, Ohio; was the first DeMolay leader in Brecksville, and was also a boy scout leader in Brecksville. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; daughter: Laura (Pete) Wennes, Port Clinton, OH; son: Jeffrey (Rosie) Green, Antioch, California; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one great granddaughter on the way due in October. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Cynthia Turner; son: Ernest H. Green; and a brother: John Green. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, where members of Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge #341 will conduct Masonic services at 4:00 PM. At his request, cremation will take place, followed by burial on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, 4700 Broadview Road, Cleveland, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catawba Fire and EMS, American Diabetes Association, or to the American Heart Association.
