Gwen Addy

Gwen Addy, 77 of Lakeside, OH died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Otterbein North Shore, Lakeside, OH. She was born July 14, 1940 in Marion, OH the daughter of Arthur L. and Hester Lydia (Lauer) Erwin. Gwen graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1958 and received her Bachelors in Education from The Ohio State University in 1964. She married Keith Addy on March 26, 1961 and he survives. Gwen was a teacher for New Philadelphia City Schools, Kelleys Island School and North Bass Island School retiring in 2001. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and held many local and state offices. She was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. She loved helping kids. "Children and music were her life!" She was a member of New Philadelphia Gideons Auxiliary and she volunteered at Union Hospital in Dover. After moving to Lakeside, she was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside Womens Club and the Red Cross Coordinator for the Peninsula Bloodmobile. She volunteered at Stein Hospice, Lakeside Association and The Wide World Shop. She was also a Docent at The Keepers House. She was an amazing pianist who played for many church services and weddings. Surviving are her husband of 56 years: Keith; daughter: Amy (Skip) Skolnik of Vermillion; son: Steven (Ingrid) Addy of Easton, PA; grandchildren: Abbey and Libby Skolnik and Ben Addy; sisters: Michelle Stokes of Delaware, OH, Marcia (Gary) Buechel of Ashley, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Arthur Erwin, II. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 1:00 pm - 2:00pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd. Lakeside-Marblehead, OH where services will begin Saturday April 7, 2018 at 2:00pm. A Celebration of Gwens life will take place in Lakeside on July 21, 2018 with interment in Lakeside Memorial Garden.
