Greg Greggila

May 9, 1960 — January 13, 2022

The family of Gregory E. Greggila, 61, of Oak Harbor, OH sorrowfully announces his passing on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Greg was born on May 9, 1960 in Garfield Heights, OH, the son of Theodore and Margaret (Host) Greggila. He was a 1978 graduate of Chardon High School in Chardon, OH and a 1982 graduate of Kent State University in Kent, OH. On October 22, 1983 he married his college sweetheart Milagros “Millie” Del Valle. Greg served in the Ohio State Highway Patrol for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2012. This brotherhood was deeply meaningful to him both while he served and in retirement. He then took his work and volunteerism to the next level at St. Boniface Catholic Church and School in Oak Harbor by becoming the friendly custodian and beloved bingo caller. The only challenge of the job was his demanding boss, Principal Millie Greggila. Greg loved watching sports, especially his Cleveland Teams. He was an avid golfer and a lover of music. He was a natural born helper, driven by his commitment to do what is right. He showed his love to his family, St. Boniface, and even strangers through acts of service. We will remember Greg for the little things: his bingo table layout, the efficient way he packed the trunk of a car, his dance moves at weddings and his “professional driver” skills. But we’ll also remember Greg for the big things: he was entirely selfless in trying times, he gave endlessly to his family, especially his children, and he was Millie’s constant companion and friend for over 42 years. We will think of him when we enjoy the deck he built for the pool, whenever someone orders “Greg’s Drink” (a 7 and 7), and in the sweet mannerisms of his grandchildren, Theo andJack. His children, grandchildren, family, and St. Boniface were the center of his life, and he leaves a beautiful legacy. Survivors include his wife of 38 years Millie of Oak Harbor; children: Christopher Greggila (Carey) of Shaker Heights, OH, Stephanie Greggila of North Palm Beach, FL, Brian Greggila (Molly) of Oak Harbor, Mary Monnot (Kyle) of South Euclid, OH, and Lucas Greggila of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren: Theodore & Jack Greggila and 2 on the way; sisters: Sr. Mary Paula “Connie” Greggila, Joan Kelly, Kathleen Petrella (Greg), and twin sister Gail Berteau (Daniel). Visitation will be Monday, January 17th, 2022 from 4-8pm at the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449. A parish wake service will begin at 8pm at the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 beginning at 11am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 Church St. Oak Harbor, OH with Rev. Tim Ferris Celebrant. Burial will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
