Grace Arlene App

Grace Arlene App, 99, of Lakeside, Ohio and formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center. She was born on May 24, 1916 in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late James and Martha (Morgan) Gifford. On July 28, 1937 she married Reverend Donald B. App and he preceded her in death on July 19, 1979. Grace formerly worked at the United Methodist Church Headquarters and at Landis Meats in Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lakeside, Ohio. During her spare time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her son: Lynn (Ruth) App, of Marblehead; daughter: Janet (Greg) Trobridge, of Bass Harbor, Maine; son-in-law: David Connor, of Clarksville, Virginia; grandchildren: Kay (Bruce) Ronsheim, Dawn (Tim) Badia, David Connor, Michael (Merly) Connor, Tim (Sue) Trobridge, Chris (Kathy MacDonald) Trobridge; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter: Linda Connor; her granddaughter-in-law: Elizabeth Connor; three brothers and four sisters. Per Grace's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Grace's Life memorial service on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2pm at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Avenue, Lakeside, Ohio, with Pastor Vern Shepherd officiating. Refreshments will be held immediately following the service in the parlor. Memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center.
