Gloria L. Knopp

Gloria L. Knopp, 85, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. She was born on December 18, 1923 in Mount Clemons, Michigan, a daughter of Denzel & Mildred (Smith) Stafford. Gloria was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Washington, D.C. On June 15, 1945, she married Justin J. Knopp, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1986. An avid golfer, Gloria was a member of the Oak Harbor Golf Club and was active in the Ladies League. She also greatly enjoyed reading and spending time on her computer. For many years, Gloria was an administrative clerk in quality control for the former Toledo Edison at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. She is survived by her sons, Brad Knopp, Oak Harbor, John Knopp, North Olmsted, Ohio; daughter, Diane (Jerry) Apling, Sandusky, Ohio; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. Keith A. Hunsinger officiating. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, the Humane Society of Ottawa County, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
