Gizella Lukac

Gizella Lukac, 95, of Port Clinton, Ohio died peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. She was born on October 9, 1916 in Port Clinton, the daughter of the late Stefan and Emelia (Kolesar) Kocka. She married Clarence Lukac on July 20, 1940 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1985. She began her working career at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton, then went to work as a cook at the Island House in Port Clinton. She was a member of the former St. Paul Slovak Lutheran Church in Port Clinton until it closed, and then became a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. She was also a member of the Ohio Star Quilt Guild; member of the Magruder Hospital Ladies Auxiliary; volunteered and helped sew for the Lutheran Home of Mercy in Williston and Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor. She also helped her daughter at her shop in Lakeside and Marblehead, and loved her grandsons, Mike and Matt. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, baking, and taking care of her cats. Survivors include her daughter: Elinore Ames, Port Clinton; grandsons: Mike Ames, Port Clinton; Matt Ames, Nashville, Tennessee; special niece: Elaine (Buddy) Burris, Marblehead, Ohio, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law: Dennis Ames; and sisters: Margaret Kocka and Helen Fedor. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 10:30 am until funeral services at 1:30 pm with Pastor James Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
