Gerald L. "J.J." Johns

Gerald L. "J.J." Johns, 82, of Port Clinton passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born July 14, 1937 in Graytown, OH the son of Ray and Edna (Wendt) Johns. He served his country in the National Guard Reserves. He married Sally Gledhill on April 25, 2002. Jerry, also known as JJ, sold insurance and mutual funds for Mulic and boats for Treasure Cove. In 1980 he purchased Kamp Kozy Campground and Marina and operated it until retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, previously he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor where he was an adult Sunday School Teacher. He previously was a camp counselor at Kelleys Island 4-H camp, he enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. He loved boating to all the Lake Erie Islands and vacationing at Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada. Surviving are his wife: Sally; children: Randy (Cheri Honeywell) Johns of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Greg (Linda) Johns of Oak Harbor, Brad (Sandra) Johns of Kennewick, WA, Merrilee (Paul) Koci of Brunswick, OH, Dawn (John) Cook of Crestline, OH, Nathan (Angela) Gledhill of Marysville, OH; grandchildren: Cassandra (Mikey) Draper of Marblehead, OH, Ryley Cook, Nickolas Cook, Chelsea Cook, Shayna Koci, Tyler Koci, Hayden Gledhill and Jackson Gledhill; siblings: Barbara Sprouse of Oak Harbor, Fran Wilson of Holland, OH, Elwood "Butch" (Karen) Johns of Oak Harbor, Faye (Shorty) Rife of Oak Harbor, Karen (Larry) Anderson of Woodville; previous wife: Jan Gledhill of Galion, OH and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Keith Johns; brother: Dewilt "Bud" Johns and sister: Joanne Siefke. Saturday the world lost a loving caring man. To say our family will have a hole in our hearts is an understatement. He will be missed by not only his family but also by the many people whose lives he touched. We give him to God to heal his broken body and relieve his pain. Memorial services will be conducted 6:00 pm Thursday, December 12, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams St. Port Clinton, OH with visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. followed by a celebration of his Life in the church social hall.
