Gerald L. "Gerry" Heschel, 58, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his residence. He was born on August 15, 1957 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the son of the late Cooper and Janice (Warnke) Heschel. On January 14, 1978 he married Linda Ross and she survives. Gerry worked for US Gypsum as a Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 2012. He was an avid race fan, often seen working with his brother Kenny on race cars and being Kenny's Crew Chief. Gerry enjoyed spending time with his son, "Jr" and together they had a truck and would often go racing on the dirt track in Fremont, Ohio. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Survivors include his wife: Linda; son: Gerald L. Heschel, "Jr", Port Clinton; daughters: Julie Whiteside, Port Clinton and Amber Millhouse (John Grieve), Marblehead, Ohio; six grandchildren; brother: Kenneth (Tina) Heschel, Port Clinton; sister: Sherry (John) Sauber, North Carolina; brother-in-law: Dave Madison, Port Clinton; sister-in-law: Mary Heschel, Port Clinton; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother: Jerald L. "Jerry" Heschel and sister: Renee Madison. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11am the funeral home with Reverend James Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton.
