George C. Felder, 83, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home. He was born on January 15, 1931, the son of Clifford & Alverta L. (Cullenen) Felder. George was a graduate of the former Salem-Oak Harbor High School, and served in Japan with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at the former Erie Army Depot near Port Clinton until it closed, and then worked for Peter Eckrich & Sons in Fremont. In later years, George was an electrician for Owens-Illinois and Libbey-Owens-Ford. An "outdoors" person, George enjoyed puttering in his yard and mowing grass. He was known in the area for his strong support of Oak Harbor High School sporting events and attended many of them. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and especially Poker night with his buddies. Always looking for the next festival or card game to attend, George liked being with people and loved discussing politics and religion, often taking the opposite point of view just for the sake of a good discussion! He also enjoyed his morning coffee group and lunch at the Happy Hour. On February 26, 1955, George married his wife Ginette, who he had met at a dance in Texas. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2005, just before their 50th wedding anniversary. George is survived by his daughters, Josie Magers, Oregon, Ohio and Julie (Dan Fuller) Felder, Toledo, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Felder, Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Donnie (Shawna) Magers and Michelle Magers; and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Shaelyn, Kyle, Tyler, Keira, Kalen, Caylin, & Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Michael Felder; and his sister, Beverly Chio. George's family will receive friends from 2-7 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday. Interment will be later in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation. Funeral Home: Crosser Funeral Home - Oak Harbor Chapel 301 N. Locust Street Oak Harbor, OH
