Gary L. Buhrow, 80 of Oak Harbor, OH passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 31, 1943 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Leonard “Bud” and Marcella (Blausey) Buhrow. He served in the United States Navy. On December 25, 1960 he married the former Judith Kay Velliquette who preceded him in death June 28, 2003. Gary was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed farming, family and John Deere.
Gary can be most remembered for owning and operating Buhrow’s Inc. with his brothers and family, where customers turned into lifelong friends. He had many acquaintances in which he loved the opportunity to share stories and laughter. Gary was a Luther League advisor and took many groups to church conventions. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge and got joy from seeing his family alongside him in the congregation. He had a special way of showing his constant faith and love of God.
Gary was a member of SCRAP in Gibsonburg, OH as well as Fly Wheelers in Florida. You could find him selling his favorite John Deere toys and making friends with everyone he met. He spent his time in Ohio farming with his brothers and family and his time in Florida making memories with friends. He enjoyed cheering for his grandkids and great-grandkids at their many activities and sporting events.
Survivors include his daughters: Tina Thorbahn, Theresa (Bruce) Stone, and Tonia (Lorne) Tice; brothers: Robert (Janet) Buhrow and Dean Buhrow; grandchildren: Ryan Thorbahn, Nick (Tonya) Thorbahn, Trent (Caitlin) Thorbahn, Chris (Alexa) Stone, Elishia (Ben) Sutter, Emily (Jimmy) Keller, Katelyn (Cameron) Shirer, and Brooke (Austin) Tice; great-grandchildren: Kahle, Adelynn, Tycen, Maeve, Mason, Calla, Canyon, Amelia, Judith, Silas, Haven, Isla, Myra, James, Nora, Remi, Eliza, Jemma, and Lawson; friend and companion Nancy Shadoan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judy, son-in-law Denny Thorbahn, sisters-in-law Judy Buhrow and Sherri Harder.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 PM at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will begin at 11 AM on Friday, February 9, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge, where visitation will be after 10 AM. Pastor Holli Burkard will officiate and interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to St. John Lutheran Church.
