Gary D. Shiets

Gary D. Shiets, our dear husband and father died February 10, 2010 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born Dec. 4, 1940 in Port Clinton, the son of Clifton and Alma (Meacham) Shiets. He married Marilyn Hodel on January 15, 1977 and she survives. Gary was an electrical foreman for Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station retiring in 1993. He then worked for Scandura for five years. Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a plankship owner of the U.S.S. Enterprise. He enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. He especially loved his family. Surviving are his wife: Marilyn; son: Daniel (Kathy) Shiets of Port Clinton; daughter: Rebecca (Robb) Bihun of Novelty, OH; grandchildren: Heather and Jessica Shiets and Nathaniel and Adriana Bihun; brothers: Jim Shiets, Dale Shiets both of Port Clinton; sisters: Sally Shiets, Linda Firth both of Port Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Sid Shiets. Visitation will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, LakesideMarblehead, OH. Private graveside services will be held at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ida Rupp Public Library or the Catawba Island Fire and E.M.S.
