Fred R. Kelley

Fred R. "Buck" Kelley, 84 of Oak Harbor died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home. He was born December 13, 1927 in Catlettsburg, KY to the late James and Julia (Clark) Kelley. Buck was employed with Matthews Boat Company in Port Clinton for 12 years and retired from Libby Owens Ford in Toledo after 27 years of service. He was a highly sought after upholster and producer of canvas boat work, owning and operating Kelley's Upholstery and Canvas for 55 years in Oak Harbor. Buck prided himself in perfect craftsmanship. His work remains in the homes of many and along the shores of Lake Erie. Additionally, he was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Air Force. Buck was an avid gardener and could often be found in his yard tending to his plants. He was a loving grandfather who found great delight in visits from his grandchildren and great-children. His family will forever be grateful for his greatest gifts of unconditional love, patience, and ability to truly listen. He was fiercely protective and loyal to those dear to his heart. Buck set an example for all to follow. Survivors include his wife of 61 years the former Mary Perkins of Oak Harbor; sons: Michael (Dianna) Kelley of Oak Harbor and John R. (Barbara) Kelley of Green Springs, OH; daughter Cynthia (Mark) Kelley of Oak Harbor; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Private Services will be held under the direction of the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Burial will be in Salem Twp. Union Cemetery.
