Franklin G. Dirnberg

Franklin G. Dirnberg, 83, of Port Clinton, OH, died Wednesday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. He was born in Ottawa County on June 23, 1922, a son of the late Leroy & Frances (Coombs) Dirnberg. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Perry Wargo Chapter #129, D.A.V., Port Clinton, where he served as chapter commander for 24 years. Mr. Dirnberg was also a former 5th District Commander and state Executive Committeman of the D.A.V. He was a member of John A. Fader Post #114 of the American Legion and St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, OH, where he served on the church council. He married the former Mary Jane Stricklen on January 31, 1941, and she preceded him in death on November 28, 1987. He is survived by his daughters, Alice (Ronald) Pierson, Oak Harbor, and Roberta (Roger) Nielsen, Washington, MI; sister, Mary Alice (Glenn) Schultz, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Wayne, Douglas, and Sonya Pierson, and Dan and Tina Nielsen; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Dirnberg, and great-grandsons, Dustin Lee Pierson, and Matthew A. Nielsen. Also surviving is his friend, JoAnn Pussehle, Port Clinton, OH. The family will receive friends from 2-9 P.M. Friday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. Robert M. Waidmann officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post #114.
