Frank A. Grahl

Frank A. Grahl, Jr. 87 of Martin, Ohio died Monday March 4, 2013 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor after a nine month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio (formerly Venice) on January 4, 1926, son of Frank A. & Matilda (Groth) Grahl. He attended Venice School and graduated from Margaretta High School Castalia, Ohio in 1944. Frank was a U.S. Army, veteran of World War II, serving in Japan. He was a member of American Legion Post #324 in Genoa. He also was a member of Genoa Lodge #433, F. & A.M. and Oak Harbor Chapter #162, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio. He was an accomplished carpenter and construction worker belonging to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union since 1954. He worked for Catalytic Construction, Toledo, Ohio until his retirement. Frank enjoyed spending his time outdoors working diligently in his yard and garden at the home he built for his family in 1955. Frank also enjoyed playing cards and various board games, reading and supporting his favorite sport teams. Frank was an active member of Elliston Zion United Methodist Church where he married June A. Boss on September 3, 1949. June preceded him in death on November 23, 2001. Frank is survived by his daughter, Diane (Marc) Durica, Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Traci A. Durica, Brooklyn, New York and Todd A. Durica, Charlotte, North Carolina; Sister, Viola Liptok, and Inez Renner, both of Sandusky, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Lenore Grahl, Jane (Donald) Chime, and Nona Boss; and brother-in-law, Glenn (Kathy) Boss. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chester Grahl and Melvin Grahl; sisters, Evelyn Grahl and Lois Moody; sister-in-law, Christine Grahl; brothers-in-law, Al Boss, John Liptok, Ralph Moody, and Kermit Renner. Friends and family are invited to call from 3-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, with the Rev. Larry Keeler officiating. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery.
