Francis "Brother" Gluth, 87 of Oak Harbor, OH made a peaceful journey to heaven on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from Elmwood Assisted Living, Fremont, OH with his daughters at his side. He was born July 19, 1930 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late Helmuth and Mary C. (Stamm) Gluth. He was a graduate of the Salem- Oak Harbor High School and received his B.S. in Engineering from the University of Toledo. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 16, 1961 he married the former Deanna L. Otto who preceded him in death March 28, 2013. Frank retired from the Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, OH as a Systems Analyst. He was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he served as council president for many terms, acted in the living portrayal of the Last Supper, was leader of youth fellowship, and other various committees within the Church. He was also a Past Master of Oak Harbor Lodge #495 F. & A.M. He was also considered one of the local historians where he co- authored the book "Oak Harbor". Frank also loved to speak publically and write excerpts as the "Old Timer" for the former Ottawa County Exponent. Active on the local "Log Cabin Committee", he was instrumental in the naming of Adolphus Kraemer Park. He had a passion for history and his dogs. Survivors include his daughters Lisa (Tracy) Buhrow of Oak Harbor, OH and Mary (Brad) Thone of New Braunfels, TX; his granddaughter Anna Buhrow, and dog Mandy. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Evelyn Smith, Helmuth Gluth Jr, Franklin "Buddy" Gluth, and Ray Gluth. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-7pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel, where Masonic Services will begin at 7pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor with the Rev. David A. Voll officiating. Burial will be in Salem Township Roose Cemetery where Military Honors will be given by American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W. Post #8732.
