Frances Starr Carsten

Frances Starr Carsten, 101, of Catawba Island, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at The Vineyard on Catawba. She was born on July 2, 1909 in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of Fletcher M. and Sallie Elizabeth (Kenett) Turner. On August 20, 1932 she married Carl F. "Pete" Carsten and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1996. She worked as a service representative for the telephone company until her retirement. Prior to moving to Port Clinton, she lived in Rocky River for almost 30 years. She enjoyed sail boating at the Cleveland Yacht Club. She also took up golf in Naples, Florida at the age of 65 and became an avid golfer for the next 25 years, during which time she scored several hole in ones. Survivors include her son: Pete (Bonnie) Carsten, of Catawba Island; granddaughter: Jill (Joe) Fragola, of Chicago, Illinois; and great grandchildren: Anthony and Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son: Charles E. Carsten. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
