Frances Maurine Eckert, 87, of Lakeside and formerly of Kent, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, August 15, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. She was born September 19, 1934, in Kent, Ohio the daughter of Frans Fredolph (Benardot) Lofgren (“Red”) and Maurine Harmon (Noel) Lofgren. She married Donald Philip Eckert on June 16, 1956, and he survives. Frances graduated from Kent State University, as Salutatorian of her graduating class, graduating summa cum laude with a major in music education. She taught music for Kent City Schools retiring in 1994, incorporating fun learning styles of modern music which the students adored and still rave about to this day. While in Kent she was also the children’s choir director at the Kent United Methodist Church and was so beloved by all her choir members. Frances and Don moved to Lakeside permanently in 1994. She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir as an alto. She was previously the organist at St. John Lutheran Church, Marblehead. She and her husband Don participated in various community variety acts and chorale. She loved to sing, play piano, dance with her husband, fish, play shuffleboard, read, as well as sitting on the Lakeside porch telling stories with family and friends. She loved a great meal and a good drink. She especially loved spending time with Don and her family. Surviving is her husband: Donald; children: Thomas (Donna) Eckert of Sacramento, CA, Gary (Rosana) Eckert of Plano, TX, Erin (John) Strouse of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren: Stephen Strouse and Noielle Eckert and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: A. Louise Staman and brother: Daniel Lofgren. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 450 Central Ave. Lakeside, OH where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Lakeside Memory Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Karen P.
