Floyd E. Sypherd, Jr., 90, of Lakeside, OH passed away August 16, 2023
at Providence Care Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born July 28, 1933 in
Akron, OH the son of Floyd E. and Almaretta (Schnepp) Sypherd, Sr. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1953 and he played football at Austin Peay College. He married Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Triche on November 26, 1954 and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2019. Floyd served in the Army from 1955 - 1958. Floyd
and Jackie owned and operated Sypherd’s Hardware & Bike Shop in Akron and in 1977 opened Sypherd’s Cycles in Lakeside. He was an Akron 6th Ward Councilman from 1967-1983. While wintering in Florida, Floyd was a Trail Ranger for Pinellas Bike Trail riding 30-40 miles most days.
Surviving are children: David (Marietta) Sypherd of New Franklin, Susan (Greg) Deerhake of Marblehead, Timothy (Maggy Jones)Sypherd of Marblehead; grandchildren: Kelly (Chris) Leko of Clearwater, FL, Kimberly (Mike) Zwier of Charleston, WV, Karen (Josh Warnke) Deerhake of Marblehead, Ashley (Shane) Grennen of Marblehead, Amber Sypherd of Tennessee , Alison (Tyler) Davis of Port Aransas, Texas, Teresa (Brad) Marty of Sterling, Brian (Sydney)Sypherd of New Franklin; several great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his parents; wife: Jackie; grandson: Christopher Deerhake;
sisters: Dorothy, Donna, and Betty.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 18, 2024 at The Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Stein Hospice 1912 Hayes Ave. Sandusky, OH 44870.
