Evelyn W. Kleinhans, 94, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born in Rice Township, Sandusky County on January 26, 1914, a daughter of the late Ernest C. & Caroline (Voelzke) Everett. A homemaker most of her life, Evelyn previously worked at the former Oak Harbor Basket Factory and Moore's Orchards. She was a precinct worker for the Ottawa County Board of Elections in Carroll Township for many years. A longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, Evelyn was active in the Dorcas Circle of the church. She was also a member of Riverview Auxiliary, the Rebekahs Lodge, Port Clinton, and the Farm Bureau Council. Evelyn was an accomplished seamstress, making much of her own clothing and dresses for special occasions. On June 28, 1932 she married Harold R. Kleinhans, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1997. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Larry (Sarah Ann) Kleinhans, Sidney, OH, and Marvin (Janet) Kleinhans, Hadley, PA; daughters, Glenna L. (Jack) Hetrick, Oak Harbor, OH, and Beverly (Donald) Lange, Toledo, OH; brother, Glendon (Lois) Everett, Oak Harbor, and sister, Roberta Damschroder, Lakeside, OH. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Tuesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will be present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Keith A. Hunsinger will officiate, and interment will be in Rusha Cemetery, Carroll Township. A luncheon at the church will follow the interment service.
