Evelyn M. Wiewandt

November 3, 1922 — November 24, 2007

Evelyn M. Wiewandt, 85, of Port Clinton, died Saturday Nov. 24, 2007 at her residence. She was born Nov. 3, 1922 in Clyde, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Mildred M. (Bower) Cleveland. Evelyn’s greatest love and joy was her husband of 58 years, Carl F., and her extended family. The hub of activity was the kitchen, where Evelyn liked to sit and talk, hold babies and play Flinch. As her illness progressed she kept in touch with loved ones through email, including the family’s 1967 Brazilian exchange student, Ana Vasconcellos Thorell. One of the last emails she shared with family was entitled “Why God Made Moms.” We know why God made Evelyn, who touched our lives in so many wonderful ways. She spent Thanksgiving surrounded by family, sharing joy and words of wisdom. We will miss Evelyn, but take comfort that she is now with her Heavenly Father. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Along with husband, Evelyn is survived by daughters Barbara (Rev. Raymond) Vance of Huron, Carol (Charles) Imes of Mentor and Rebecca (Patrick) Donahue of West Orange, NJ; sons Frank (Molly Kavanaugh) Wiewandt of Berlin Heights and William (Lisa) Wiewandt of Port Clinton; grandchildren Theodore (Michelle) Vance, Heather (Joseph) Knueven, Adam Vance, Jennifer (Tracey) Coslin, Christopher Imes, Nicole Imes, William Donahue, Sarah Donahue, Benjamin Donahue, Cody Wiewandt, Jordan Wiewandt and Kathryn Wiewandt; great grandchildren Bailey Donahue, Amber Vance, Maya Vance and T.J. Coslin; brother Paul Cleveland of Sandusky; sisters Ruth Gedert and Joyce (Buddy) Kindred both of Clyde. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen Cleveland and a sister Melba Doering. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Monday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice in Sandusky or St. John Lutheran Church. Funeral Home: Neidecker-LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home - Port Clinton Chapel 1124 Fulton Street Port Clinton, OH
