Evelyn L. Meinke

Evelyn L. Meinke, 86, of Port Clinton, OH, died Friday, February 24, 2006 at her residence. She was born December 13, 1919 in Gypsum, OH the daughter of the late Eugene and Palestine (Wilcox) Benore. She married Leland V. Meinke in May of 1937 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1967. She worked at Aling & Reichart in Oak Harbor where she was a silver soldered. She was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church, Port Clinton. She was an avid reader and frequently visited the Ida Rupp Public Library. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, working in her garden, and crafting. Surviving are her sons: Henry L. “Sonny” (Pat) Meinke of Lincoln, NE, Jeffery L. Meinke of Port Clinton, OH, daughters: Sandra L. Meinke of Toledo, OH, Karen R. Williams of Scottsdale, AZ, Cynthia S. (Michael) Ference of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Eric (Misty) Butler, Adam Butler, Audrey Ference, Anna Ference, Michael Ference, Gregory (Jill) Meinke, Matthew Meinke, Lee Meinke, Shannon (Tony) Hand; five great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Hunter of Port Clinton and special friend Becky Buchanan of Toledo, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Arthur Benore, Herman Ohlinger, Robert Ohlinger; sisters: Lydia Beggs, Isabelle Lorensen, Effie Burns, Elsie Fletcher, Lillian Nielsen and Hazel Ohlinger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2006 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Ida Rupp Public Library, Memorial Home Health & Hospice, Clyde or Ottawa County Health Services.
