Eva M. Rall of Port Clinton, Ohio died peacefully with her daughters at her side at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio on Christmas morning, December 25, 2015. She was born in Neisse, Germany (now Poland) to Karl & Elisabeth Niegsch on March 25, 1926. After the war and the challenges of being a refugee, she met Fritz, the love of her life, to whom she was happily wed for more than 64 years. The two immigrated to the United States in 1954 with their two young daughters. A son followed two years later. Eva loved children and worked as a preschool teacher in Mentor, Ohio for 17 years. While proud of being a US naturalized citizen, she made a point of sharing her love for German language and culture with the children she taught and the friends she made. Fritz and Eva made Catawba Island their retirement home in 1988. He passed away earlier this year. Both are immensely missed by their children Katja (Galen) Koepke of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Susanne (Richard) McWhorter of Atlanta, Georgia, and Peter (JoAnn) Rall, grandchildren, Braden and Lauren Rall, and great grand-daughter, Nuna of Philadelphia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton. Rev. John Missler will officiate, and interment will be at Catawba Island Cemetery. Following the committal service, friends are invited to the Catawba Island Club, 4235 E. Beach Club Rd., for a time of fellowship.
