Eva Helen (Woischke) Wilhelm, currently of Michigan, and formerly of Port Clinton, and Put-in-Bay, Ohio entered eternal rest on Monday, January 30, 2012. Eva was born on May 21, 1926 in Rosenthal, Germany to Kurt and Gertrud "Trudy" (Bammert) Woischke. In 1928 Eva, her mother and sister joined Kurt in the USA in Detroit, MI. Eva attended school in Detroit, MI and in 1939 Eva and her family moved to Put-in-Bay, Ohio to live. Eva graduated from Put-in-Bay school on May 21, 1943, on her 17th birthday. On October 12, 1946 Eva married Frederick W. Wilhelm at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church on Put-in-Bay. While Eva lived on the island she held many different types of jobs, including working on the Ford Tri Motor collecting fares. Eva was the first female township Put-in-Bay Clerk, which she held for over 10 years. Eva and her husband owned and operated the South Shore Cottages from 1963-1998, that her husband and father built. Eva was active in the community and was past member and officer of the PTA of Put-in-Bay School; the Rosary Altar Society at Mother of Sorrows; American Legion Aux. at Put-in-Bay and the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. Eva was an active member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church before moving to Port Clinton. Eva was the secretary/treasurer of Island Maintenance Construction Company that she and Fred owned until they sold it in 1987. Eva and Fred moved to Port Clinton in 1997. Eva was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Aux. in Port Clinton. Eva was preceded in death by her husband Frederick of 60 years on December 30, 2006; parents Kurt and Getrud Woischke; two sisters: Gerda Crowe and Rose Marie Woischke. Eva is survived by her loving, supportive and devoted daughter, Janis Allard and Granddaughter Laura Allard of MI and Port Clinton, OH. Eva is also survived by dear son, Gary Wilhelm of Marblehead, OH and son, Walter Wilhelm of MI. 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson also survive. Also surviving are special friends and chosen family, Joseph and Alison Witt of MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 2-5pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton. Eva will have a Celebration of Life Mass of Christian Burial held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street in Port Clinton on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 11am along with graveside services at 3pm at Maple Leaf Cemetery at Put-in-Bay, Ohio. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Put-in-Bay Library, Put-in-Bay, OH or the Ida Rupp Public Library, Port Clinton.
