Eugene W. "Gene" Kontak

Eugene W. "Gene" Kontak, 83 of Elmore, OH passed away peacefully on September 14, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. After many years of pain and suffering, he is finally comfortable and pain free living with his Heavenly Father. Gene was born November 7, 1934 in Curtice, OH to William and Irma (Riedeman) Kontak. He graduated from Harris- Elmore High School in 1953, attended Valparaiso University and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1964. On September 15, 1956 he married Joyce Schroeder. Gene taught at York Township High School and Vanguard Vocational School. He was owner/operator of Kontak Kars for many years at which time he repaired and built Corvettes and other classic cars. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore holding several offices during his life. He was a charter member of the Harris- Elmore EMS, Member and President of the Woodmore School Board from 1980-1995, Member and President of Woodmore Athletic Association, and spent 11 summers working at Fremont Speedway. Gene and Joyce enjoyed motorcycle trips, card club weekends at Middle Bass Island, Pontiac Conventions, and was a special Poppa to all his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending as many of his grandchildrens athletic and musical activities as possible, and was so proud of them all. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce of Elmore; sons: Stephen (Ronda) Kontak of Ft. Myers, FL and David (Ann) Kontak of Concord, NH; daughter Patricia (Eric) Tudor of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren: Rachel Bieber, Kyle Kontak, GraceAnn Kontak, Kendall, Becca, and Macy Tudor; great- grandchildren: Alexis, Emma, Caleb and Jacob and 1 great- great grandchild expected in October; sisters: Donna Ochs of Brownsburg, IN and Marian (Ron) May of Elmore, OH. Services will begin at 11:00am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore with Rev. Stephen Lutz officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the beginning of the service, but wish to invite all for a time of visiting following the service at the luncheon which will be held in the Educational Wing of the Church.
