Eugene L. Banky

Eugene L. Banky, 73 of Graytown, OH died Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his home under hospice care. He was born August 28, 1946 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Clarence and Dorothy (Zunk) Banky. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On May 25, 1968 he married Barbara A. Hemminger and she survives. Eugene worked at Standard Products, Uniroyal and the Shipyard before driving truck for Mike Weidner then Blatts Trucking retiring in 2010. He also farmed for many years for Jerry Miller, and Ron Laubacher. Eugene was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and V.F. W. Post #8732 both of Oak Harbor. He was a avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed being out and about, playing cards and socializing. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Banky of Graytown; children: Tammy (Jimmy) Meek of Oak Harbor and Todd (Sandra) Banky of Pickerington, OH; sisters: Karen Densic of Oak Harbor, Bonnie (Jim) Adkins of Rocky Ridge, OH and Darla (Robert) Greer of Rossford, OH; grandchildren: Travis (Amber) Meek, Garrett (Haley) Meek, Sophia Banky, and Isabella Banky; great- grandchildren: Gia and Lucas and 2 on the way; mother- in- law Edythe Hemminger of Oak Harbor; sisters- in- law: Patricia (Steve) McLaughlin of Elmore, OH and Gloria Krauss of Oak Harbor and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father- in- law Vernon Hemminger; brother- in- laws: Dave Densic, Robert "Butch" Hemminger, and Paul Krauss; sister and brother- in- law Sharon and Robert Boldt; nephew Brian Densic and niece Cora Roob. Friends may call from 1-8 P.M. Sunday at Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 301 N. Locust St., Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 13, 2020 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor, where visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Monday. Rev. Dan Sather will officiate, and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, Ohio. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church.
