Eugene K. Schmardebeck

Eugene K. Schmardebeck, 85, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor, Ohio. He was born on October 23, 1925 in Port Clinton, the son of Howard and Verda (Baker) Schmardebeck. He married Mary Jane Steffens on July 22, 1961 and she preceded him in death on January 15, 2011. He was a United States Naval Veteran, serving his country for 32 years which included World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam Wars. After he was discharged from the military, he drove truck and also did carpentry work. Survivors include his brother: Willard Schmardebeck, of Port Clinton; nephew: William (Barbara) Schmardebeck, of Lexington, North Carolina; nieces: Brenda (Frank) Seymour, of Port Clinton; Betty (Sonny) Lehman, of Milford, Pennsylvania and Bonnie (Keith) Hartlaub, of Port Clinton; step children: Georgia Ehrhardt, of Port Clinton, and Dennis McGee, of Port Clinton; several step grandchildren: and a special granddaughter: Deborah Hauke, of Sandusky, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and half brother: Austin Smith. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 1pm until funeral services at 3pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, with Reverend David Gowan, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or Donor�s Choice.
