Eugene A. "Geno" Kindt

Eugene A. "Geno" Kindt, 80, of Put-in-Bay died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. He was born January 12, 1937 on Put-in-Bay the son of Anthony and Elizabeth (Wendlekowski) Kindt. He married Gloria Powers on September 24, 1960 and she survives. He graduated from Put-in-Bay High School in the Class of 1955 and he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Bowling Green State University. He taught Earth Science at Fremont Jr. High School for thirty years retiring in 1992. He worked for Miller Boat Line for over 60 years where he was known as "The Prof". He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Put-in-Bay. He studied and collected fossils and cut geodes. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and ice fishing. Surviving are his wife: Gloria; daughters: Lisa (Mark) Ashba of Pinckney, MI, Jacqueline (Thomas) Kovacic of Chesterland, OH, Victoria (James) Fisher of Put-in-Bay; son: Richard (Lena) Kindt of Toledo; grandchildren: Lauren Kindt, Kayla Kindt, Jessica Ashba, Brianna (Coryanna) Ku, Ashlee Ashba, Nathaniel Ashba, Sarah Kovacic, Bethany Kovacic, Benjamin Kovacic, Yuri Kindt; sisters: Marge (George) Johoski of Arkansas, Rose Ann Handwork of Arizona, Claire Kerekas of Toledo, Joan (Ted) McCann of Put-in-Bay, Marian Huff of Michigan; brother: Robert Kindt of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter: Antoinette Kindt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 7:00 pm in the Cornerstone Room of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church and also Thursday from 9:30 11:30 am. Interment will be in Mapleleaf Cemetery, Put-in-Bay, OH.
