Esther James, 99, passed away July 8, 2019. She was born in Elmore, Ohio on March 16, 1920 to George & Emma (Horner) Magsig. A graduate of Harris-Elmore High School, Esther married Howard James on October 28, 1939. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Elmore, and was passionate about art, especially painting. Esther enjoyed teaching her painting classes, the Portage Valley Painters. She is survived by her children, Sam (Anita) James, Nan (Bruce) Card, Jon (Jan) James, and Dan (Trina) James; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Stanley Magsig, and sisters, Gladys Schmidlin and Angeline Dunmyer. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 12, 2019 at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery.
