Emery A. “Bud” Blausey, 82, of Elmore, OH, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in rural Elmore on September 29, 1924, the son of the late Albert F. & Viola (Schott) Blausey. Raised by his grandparents, Bud was a lifelong farmer, farming with horses as a child. He raised soy beans, corn, and wheat, and earlier he grew sugar beets and tomatoes. Bud also raised sheep and chickens. Always an active person, he loved to ice fish, bowl, and roller skate, where he met his wife. Bud especially enjoyed flying and was a charter member of the Portage Valley Flying Club (formerly Haar Airport) of Elmore. He was known to his friends as an honest and hardworking person who was able to repair almost everything. A life time member of Bethel United Brethren Church, Elmore, Bud was very active in the life of the church and was very involved in the construction of the new church building some years ago. He was a member of the board of directors of the Elmore Retirement Village and Lin-Mor. A charter member of the Elmore Lions Club, Bud received Lions highest honor, the Melvin Jones Award, in September of this year. He was also a member of S.C.R.A.P. and built the bridges at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Elmore. On November 8, 1947, he married the former Gladys Seem, and she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Sharon (Tom) Elder, and his son, Richard “Rick” Blausey, both of Elmore; his sister, Marylene Neeb, Elmore; grandchildren, Traci (Craig) Tomor, Mike (Kelli) Elder, Laura Elder, Kristy (Matt) Kohlman, and Paul (Tamara) Blausey; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Tate Tomor. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Bethel United Brethren Church, Elmore, with Rev. Keith Davis and Rev. Norm Pickett officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore.
