Elwood W. Crawford

Elwood W. Crawford, 86, of Oak Harbor, Ohio died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor. He was born on November 24, 1923 in Sandusky County, Ohio, the son of Richard and Anna (Pelton) Crawford. On November 22, 1943 he married Dorothy A. Edwards and she preceded him in death on July 30, 1991. Elwood worked at Medusa Cement in Bay View, Ohio, then at the former Lakeland Canning Company in Sandusky, Ohio and finally at the Bar Rubber Company in Sandusky, having retired in 1969. He enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, and joking with all the nurses aids at Riverview. Survivors include his daughters: Judy Smith, Marblehead, OH; Susan (Ron) Sarnes, Rocky Ridge, OH; Sharon (Herb) Mullens, Port Clinton, OH; and Jean (Mark) Roberts, Genoa, OH; sons: Bill (Katie) Crawford and Dave (Bonnie) Crawford, both of Port Clinton, OH; Mike (Connie) Crawford, Fremont, OH; and Ronnie (Jan) Crawford, Kingsport, TN; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister: Beulah Baugher, Bowling Green, OH; special friends: Duke Canter and Merle Baldwin; and his Riverview family-the nurses and aids from station 1. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son: Larry; granddaughter: Dawn Abele; sisters: Isabelle Ottney and Vadis Crawford; and brothers: Gomer, Berl, and Robert Crawford. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Alfred Havens officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Cemetery in Wayne Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus.
