Elsie Holmes

Elsie Holmes, 80, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on August 30, 1936 in Rogersville, Tennessee, the daughter of Otto and Garnet (Benton) Booker. She married Stanley Holmes, Sr., and he preceded her in death on January 13, 1997. Elsie worked as a STNA at Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor, Ohio as well as at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center in Lakeside until her retirement. During the summer months she worked at Bay Point in Marblehead, Beach Cliff on Catawba Island and at Goodwill Industries as a clerk. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, reading, crocheting, and helping anyone that was in need. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Emma (Ray Wilson) Holmes, Marblehead; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, sisters, Shirley Priddy and Beulah Robbins, both of Marblehead, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Stanley Holmes, Jr., and her daughter, June Hollinger. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from noon until funeral services at 2 pm with Pastor Brad Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Sackett Cemetery, Lakeside-Marblehead.
