Elizabeth M Grassi

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Grassi, 84, of Marblehead, died Monday July 6, 2009 at her residence. She was born December 13, 1924 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of John & Regina (Schaefer) Brasser. On November 3, 1945, she married Francesco "Frank" Grassi and he preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage on July 11, 2004. Betty was formerly employed at Biro Manufacturing and retired from the job she cherished, driving a bus for the Ottawa County Board of MRDD. She was on the board for the Ottawa County Senior Center, a member of Jill's Coffee Club and the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Betty is survived by her godson and his family, Christopher and Donna Malfara and their sons Joseph and Tony and a "special niece" Carol Srdjak. Her husband and her parents preceded her in death. Friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Marblehead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church where additional visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of the mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging.
