Elizabeth H. "Betty" Hrupcho, 96, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She was born on February 17, 1917 in Crow's Nest, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kocik) Hrupcho. She was a graduate of Port Clinton High School, and then took classes earning her certification as an X-Ray technician. Betty formerly worked at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton and then as an X-Ray technician at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton; she later went to work as a hotel clerk at the Island House in Port Clinton, and finally worked for Dr. Deitrich Felber as an X-Ray technician until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and former member of the church choir. She also volunteered at Magruder Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Riverview Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included: flower and vegetable gardening, canning, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, painting, ceramics, cooking, baking, especially wedding and birthday cakes, chair caning, and traveling. As a young woman, Betty spoke fluent Slovak and translated for her family, communicating with relatives in Europe. Betty was one of the immovable fixtures in her family's lives. She attended every birthday, graduation, wedding, anniversary party, picnic, reunion, baptism, and first communion. Survivors include her sister: Catherine Erney, Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Marie Saunders, Ann Andrews, Margaret Chimo; and brothers: Joseph Hrupcho, Michael Hrupcho, and John Field. Visitation will be held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 3-7pm with members of the Altar Rosary praying the rosary at 6:30pm. On Monday, May 6, 2013, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton with Father John C. Missler officiating. Cremation will follow and burial will be at a later time in the summer at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Port Clinton, or to Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
