Elizabeth A. Douglas, 78, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, under the care of Stein Hospice. Liz was born on January 15, 1935, in Oak Harbor, a daughter of Leo & Kathryn (Nietfeld) Baumgartner. She was a graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School, and was a 1956 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, Ohio. A Registered Nurse, Liz worked for the former Mercy Hospital, Toledo, and was the charge nurse in the Pediatrics Department of Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. She also worked at Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor. Liz was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, and the Altar Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member of Gamma Kappa Sorority, Oak Harbor, and was known for her Hummel collection. On September 8, 1956, she married James A. Douglas, and he survives. Also surviving are their children, Paul (Kim) Douglas, Sylvania, Ohio, Don (Toni) Douglas, Oak Harbor, Ohio, and Lisa (Randy) Derr, Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Joe (Elsebeth) Baumgartner, Oak Harbor; sisters, Judy Franck, Oak Harbor, Kathy (Steve) Gordon, Oak Harbor, Pat Shanteau, Oak Harbor, and Mary Wilson, Port Clinton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ruth Baumgartner, Oak Harbor; 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack Baumgartner and Jim Baumgartner, and brothers-in-law, Robert Franck and Terry Shanteau. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Friday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Al Cerenowski officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
