Eleanor "Trudy" Imke, 82, of Port Clinton, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Toledo Hospital, Toledo, OH. She was born Mar. 12, 1931 in Toledo, OH the daughter of John and Mabel (Mohr) Trudel. She married James W. Imke on June 29, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2010. Mrs. Imke was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, Toledo and St. Vincent Nursing School, Toledo in 1952. She worked as a RN in the OB Department at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. Trudy served the American Red Cross for 48 years. She volunteered her time to screen blood pressures and cholesterols, work on most all county blood drives and help in the office. She became a member of the Ottawa County Advisory Board in 1984 and went Honorary Lifetime Membership a few years ago. She also served on the Western Lake Erie Blood Region's Board of Directors in 1997 and was appointed to the State Service Council. She was inducted into the Ottawa County Hall of Fame in 1994, 1999 Ottawa County Volunteer of the Year, 1999 Greater Toledo Area Chapter Clara Barton Award, 2002 Greater Toledo Area Chapter Walbridge Award and 2003 Western Lake Erie Blood Services Clara Barton Award. She was also a member of the Ottawa County Democrat Central Committee, 88 Circle, she was an avid bird watcher and active in Playmakers Theatre. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island. Surviving are her sons: John E. Imke of Port Clinton, Daniel S. (Linda) Imke of Maplewood, OH, Andrew (Tanya) Imke of Puyallup, WA; daughter-in-law: Mary Alice Imke of Findlay; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and sons: James W. Imke, Jr and David M. Imke. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island where visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Additional visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 from 2:00 8:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ottawa County Red Cross or Resurrection Lutheran Church. The expanded obituary will be published in Friday's edition of the paper.
