Edward N. Ashley, 73, of Elmore, OH, and formerly of Rossford, OH, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. He was born in Sandusky, OH on April 6, 1950, a son of Baxter C. & Joan M. (Evans) Ashley. Ed grew up in Sandusky, and was a 1968 graduate of Sandusky High School.


Ed married his wife, Mary (Barkhau) Ashley on August 3, 1996. They first lived in Rossford before moving to Elmore. Ed was previously married to the former Rhea Gilbert, and they had 2 children, Brian (Jessica) Ashley and Susan (Randy) Crawford, and 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, and Emily Ashley, and Kara and Courtney Crawford. Ed also had 2 stepsons, Charles (Charlotte) Duggan and Daniel Duggan and 2 step granddaughters, Harper and Lucy Duggan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Ashley; and his first wife, Rhea.


Ed was a devout football fan of the Cleveland Browns, and the University of Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!). He was a high school football official for many years, and was a Boy Scout Leader, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and went on several church work camps in West Virginia.


Before retiring, Ed worked in sales for several companies. In recent years, he struggled to maintain his health, suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, lymphoma, and recently lung and brain cancer.


There will be no services. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution in Ed’s memory are asked to please consider The American Cancer Society or the Boy Scouts of America.
