Edna J. Zalar

Edna Joanne Zalar, 72, of Marblehead, Ohio died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, Ohio. She was born on September 27, 1938 in Marblehead, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Anna E. (Pepon) Myers. During her younger years she worked as a secretary at the Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio where she met her husband, Frank Zalar who also worked there. They were married on June 30, 1962. After many years living away from Ohio, she was happy to retire back home to Marblehead. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead. Her greatest enjoyment was her home and family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and eating chocolate cake. Survivors include her husband: Frank; children: Pamela (Mike) Marciniak, Holland, Ohio; Gary (Suzanne) Zalar, Kennesaw, Georgia; and Sharon Zalar, North Olmsted, Ohio; five grandchildren: Jessica, Jenna, and Colin Marciniak; Zachary and Renee Zalar; brother: Charles (Karen) Myers, Marblehead, Ohio; sister: Anna Mae (Terry) Newman, Howell, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John and Joe Myers. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 10am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, Ohio with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow at Clemons Cemetery in Marblehead, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marblehead Fire Department; Marblehead Police Department; or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
