Edgar R. Weis, 93 of Elmore, OH died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Genoa Retirement Center, Genoa, OH. He was born September 3, 1923 in Elmore, OH to the late Rolla and Esther (Beck) Weis. He was a 1942 graduate of the Harris- Elmore High School and a 1943 graduate of General Aero motive in Cleveland, OH. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during WWII. On October 8, 1960 he married the former Ina J. Hellstern who preceded him in death January 27, 2013. Edgar was a Laborer for the Toledo Air Association, also known as Teledyne Research where he worked on Jet Engines. He retired from Champion Spark Plug in 1982 where he worked on Executive Aircrafts. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore. He also held memberships in: American Legion Post #279, Experimental Aircraft Association, Former Portage Lodge #351 F.& A.M., Past Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star all in Elmore and founding member of Wally Byam Caravan Club Inc., which was an Airstream group who loved to travel. His most noted accomplishment is building 2 Bi-planes from scratch. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Humberger of Elmore, OH; brother- in- law Charles Dibert of Elmore, OH; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Leona Savage and Marian Dibert and brother- in- laws Glenn Humberger Sr and Charles Savage. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore- Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. State Route 51, Elmore, OH 43416. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Thursday, March 9, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore with the Rev. Margaret Mills officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery where Military presentation will be done by American Legion Post #279. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #279, or Portage Valley Flying Club.
