Edgar L. "Ed" Deitemyer, 83 of Elmore, OH died Thursday, March 8, 2011 at his home. He was born February 9, 1928 in Woodville, OH to the late Albert and Anna (Kasischke) Deitemyer. Ed was a 1946 graduate of Woodville High School and served in the United States Army in the 4th Infantry Division in Germany during the Korean War. On April 11, 1951 he married the former Faye Schroeder and she survives. Mr. Deitemyer was a 40-year partner in Johnnies Electric Service Inc. in Elmore. He served 2, four-year terms on the Board of Education during the time that Woodville and Elmore Schools were consolidated. Ed also was a 15-year volunteer fireman in Elmore, a very active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore of which he taught Sunday school and served as council president for 4 terms. He was Past Commander of American Legion Post #279, Elmore and past president of the Elmore Kiwanis Club. Ed enjoyed traveling, fishing, telling stories and playing bridge and poker with his friends. He was also a huge Buckeye fan. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Faye of Elmore, daughter LuAnne (Bob) Larson of Oregon, OH; sons: Tom (Sue) Deitemyer and Bill (Marsha) Deitemyer both of Elmore; grandchildren: Allison (Eric) Sitter, Andrew and Dana Wend, Matt, Danny, Ashley, and Betsy Deitemyer; great-grandchildren: Madison and Grace Sitter; 3 special step-grandchildren and 10 special step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Florence Wagner and Viola McCarty both of Elmore. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arthur, John, and Norman Deitemyer. Services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11am at St. John United Church of Christ, Elmore with the Rev. William L. Bartholomew officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the beginning of the service. Burial will be private in the Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to: St. John United Church of Christ, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, CAGE, or a charity of the Donor's Choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Cancer Center at St. Charles Mercy Hospital.
