Edna Marie Bolander, 100, of Graytown, OH, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Genoa Care Center, Genoa, OH. Marie was born on September 15, 1906 in Columbus Grove, OH to the late Edward & Mary (Davis) Stump. She earned a degree in elementary education at Bowling Green State University and taught for more than 35 years. Her career began in a one room school house in Palmer, OH, and later she taught in Elliston, Graytown, and Allen Central Schools. On July 13, 1934, she married Elmer C. Bolander, and he preceded her in death on February 28, 2000. Marie enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as many other types of needlework. She was very involved in her church congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, OH. There she taught Sunday School and was an instrumental part in many of the church’s fundraisers. She and her husband were charter members of a Pinochle card club for over fifty years. Marie also enjoyed gardening, baking, and canning the many foods she grew in her garden. Family was very dear to Marie and she is survived by her eldest son, Richard (Jackie) Bolander of Mackinac Island, MI, her youngest son, James (Dodie) Bolander of Olmsted Falls, OH; her granddaughters, Beth (Trevor) Whitely of Grafton, OH, Amy (Paul) Ellinger of Canton, MI, Ellen (George) Booker of Parsippany, NJ, and her grandson, Brad (Jennifer) Bolander of Fairview Park, OH. Marie is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Katherine, Jackson, Sophia, Parker, and Maxwell. Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Higley and her brother, Clarence Stump. Marie touched so many lives in her 100 years on this earth. She was loved deeply by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed. Her family will receive friends from 4-9 P.M. Tuesday at the Crosser Funeral Home, 451 Rice Street, Elmore, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, with Rev. Lowell Peters officiating. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ.
