Durwood D. Meacham, 80, of Catawba Island, died Monday December 17, 2007 at his residence. He was born November 8, 1927 in Gypsum, the son of the late Alvin and Virgie (Russo) Meacham, Sr. Durwood was in the boat repair business all of his life. He previously worked for the Matthews Boat Company, Winke’s and Gem Beach Marina and also owned the D and E Boat Repair before retiring. He was a longtime member of AA. Surviving are his wife, Edith (Priddy) Meacham, whom he married on October 3, 1969; daughters, Teresa Meacham of Elmore, Sindie Meacham of Vermilion, and Sue Egger of Port Clinton; sons, Brian (Jennifer) Meacham, Rick (Marie) Meacham and Larry Meacham, all of Port Clinton; Ten grandchildren and Six great grandchildren; sisters, Gayle Thorp of Sandusky, and Myra Blevins of Wiggins, Miss. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joy and Sharon, and brothers Alvin, Jr. and Lowell. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where services will be at 11 A.M. Friday. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery.
