Dr. Thomas J. Overberg

Dr. Thomas J. Overberg, 58, of Port Clinton, Ohio died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. He was born on February 18, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio the son of the late Harry and G. Francis (Dunigan) Overberg. On July 10, 1987 he married Victoria Tout and she survives. Dr. Overberg was a 1979 graduate of The Ohio State University of Optometry, and owned his own private Optometry practice since 1984 in Fremont, Ohio. He was one of the few Ohio Optometrists to become Board Certified in June 2011. He was also a writer of numerous published articles on a paperless office. Tom was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton; member of the Ohio Optometric Association and member of the American Optometric Association. His hobbies included playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife: Vickie; son: John (fiance' Adrienne Baker) Overberg, Columbus, Ohio; daughter: Brooke (Bryan) Warga, The Plains, Ohio; sister: Sodhoh (John) Mathias, West Chester, Ohio; brother: J. Dennis (Linda) Overberg, Terra Haute, Indiana; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 9am until a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, Ohio with Father Daniel J.
