Randall “Randy” Lee Kreager D.D.S. of Oak Harbor OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 22, 2025 at the age of 70 after a long journey with Frontal Temporal Dementia (FTD). He was born April 29, 1954 in Port Clinton, OH to Donald and Bonnie (Radloff) Kreager. He was a 1972 graduate of Oak Harbor High School. On June 20, 1975, Randy married Nancy Gyde. Randy received his Doctorate in Dentistry from The Ohio State University in 1978.
Randy was a very passionate person who shared his interests with everyone around him. He dedicated 41 years to keeping teeth healthy at Oak Harbor Dental. Everyone that met Randy knew he was a graduate of The Ohio State University, and he often showed his Buckeye spirit early on football Saturdays blaring TBDBITL on the way to games as a lifelong season ticket holder. He was also one of the biggest fans of his children’s sports, always found on the sideline cheering or standing with a stopwatch at the track meet finish line.
He was very involved in the Oak Harbor community, including being an active member of St. Paul UCC, a founding member of the Oak Harbor Lions Club, a member of the organizational committee for the first Oak Harbor Apple Festival, and a member of the library board during the construction of the current building.
His love of birding was evident in the time he spent serving Black Swamp Bird Observatory and searching for birds to add to his Life List, amassing a total of 1064 birds. He greatly enjoyed serving on the BSBO board and helping plan and run the Biggest Week every May - the chance to drive birders from location to location combined his love of birding with his greater love of telling jokes and stories. Randy enjoyed many outdoor adventures, especially birding, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, rafting, and skiing.
Spending time with friends and family was important to Randy, both at home and on vacations. While he was fortunate to be able to travel to many destinations around the world before his illness. Snowmass, Colorado was always his home away from home.
Music was another love in Randy’s life that was enjoyed by many that knew him - whether singing in the church choir, playing instruments, or just singing along with the radio, his talent will be missed.
Nancy is his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years. Their strong marriage was a testament to their love and they spent many weekends leading Marriage Encounter gatherings to keep that love strong. He enjoyed letting everyone know how proud he was of his family - his love for them was evident every day. Randy’s legacy will live on through his faith in God and his love and devotion as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of Elmore, OH; children: Sarah (Brian) Schimmoeller of Millbury, OH and Matthew (Michelle) Kreager of Oak Harbor, OH; grandchildren: Luke & Isaac Schimmoeller and Elsie & Philip Kreager; father: Donald Kreager of Oak Harbor, OH; brothers: Jeff (Debra) Kreager of Oak Harbor, OH and John (Laurie) Kreager of Perrysburg, OH; sister: Mary (David) Buehler of Port Clinton, OH; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
